San Pedro: The Perfect Place to Hide Away | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |

All in all, the Hideaway Hotel was a very down-home group of people that we couldn't have been happier to be around. In fact, you couldn't ask for a more welcoming bunch of people anywhere on this island. What do those fancy-shmancy resorts have that the Hideaway doesn't?! (Okay, cable TV in the rooms...I certainly noticed that by the second day I was laid up in bed.) But after a week and a half, I don't ever remember a time in my life where I felt so close to home, despite being so far away. Granted, that may have something to do with the fact that it's an English-speaking country, 80% of the people we met were also Americans, and US currency was welcomed everywhere (being exactly double the value of the Belizian dollar, by design).
Even without all of that, however, I still feel like San Pedro was like a home to us. Because there hasn't been a single place so far on our trip we felt so disappointed to have to leave. Which means, of course, we'll be back...hopefully, the E. Coli won't.
