Credits and Thanks |
A journey like this cannot happen without the help and support of many, many people. We'd like to take up some space to thank a few people, in particular, who have been exceptionally vital in our success.
Our families, whose support and encouragement have far outweighed the guilt trips. Special thanks to Keith's mom, for becoming an overnight stock broker, and Erin's mom, for learning far more about international shipping rules than anyone ever needed to know.
Oracle, for allowing Keith to take an extended leave of absence, for letting him use their offices around the world for email and photo backups, and for keeping their stock just high enough for us to be able to afford it.
Kristy and Ashton at ExpeditionTrips.com, for their extensive help in planning our Galapagos, Antarctica, and Patagonia trips, and for jumping to the rescue every time we lost or couldn't find our vouchers.
Sarah at Airtreks.com, for scouring the world of discount airfares and air passes to get us a fantastic seven-month itinerary, and for only half the price of what the so-called "specialists" wanted.
Karen at Flight Centre, in Australia, for helping us take advantage of great exchange rates, and awesome fares, including some of the most complex travel arrangements we've ever conjured up.
Olympus, for a great deal on a top-notch digital camera.
Ivo Dujmovic, at Oracle, for his invaluable assistance in backing up our precious photos while on the road.
All our old friends, who have been with us from the neurotic beginnings, and continue to be with us as our web site grows with our stories.
All our new friends, whom we've been meeting along the way, and whose friendliness, generosity, and kindness are allowing them to become, one-by-one, "old friends".
And, last but not least, an extra special thanks to Keith's parents, Art & Barbara for taking care of our most precious commodities: Keith's stock. No, just kidding: we're most indebted to them for their last-minute willingness to take care of our cats, Bubba and Gwen. Without their help, our trip would probably have come to a crashing halt.
Also, a retraction of thanks (unthanks? anti-thanks?) for our "friend" Marsha, who graciously offered to hold our furniture and artwork for us, but then went and lost it all without telling us.
If we failed to list you, please don't be insulted. I assure you we haven't forgotten all that you've done for us...we just can't remember how to spell your name.
