Note: For more information about these pictures, read about our overnight journey to Isla Taquile.

Welcome to Taquile — An archway marks the top of the path leading up from the main dock (seen here through the arch).
Taquile Arch — A bird poses atop a more modern construction (relatively speaking) along the path leading to the main plaza.
Town Meeting — The elders on Isla Taquile assemble in the main plaza to discuss the politics of tourism, debating whether or not to continue allowing tourists visit the island. Although they spoke in Quechua, they curiously chose to hold their debate in front of the tourists.
Francisco's View — View from the front yard of our host (sort-of) on Taquile.
Family Pet — Another view from Francisco's front yard, with a lone sheep that surprisingly was still there and not cooked the next day.
Pre-Incan Ruin — Keith standing in the doorway of a pre-Incan ruin, one of the several on the island that are so archaelogically important, they have no names.
Atop Taquile — Looking down from the highest hilltop on the island. Behind the rainclouds is our first glimpse of the mountains of Bolivia.
Tight Fit — Keith demonstrating the size of the narrow alleyway leading to our accomodations. We needed a stick of butter to get through after dinner.
