Southward — Looking south, toward the entrance and the end of the Inca Trail.
Window to the Andes — A commanding view from one ancient resident's front door.
Last Glimpse — A final view of the city as the sun begins to fall behind the clouds.
Aguas Calientes — View from the town of Aguas Calientes (hot waters), where Machu Picchu hides just beyond the peaks in the distance.
Aguas Calientes — The painfully steep main thoroughfare in Aguas Calientes, with the mountains in the distance huddled around Machu Picchu. Our hotel, unfortunately, was a lot higher than this.
Aguas Calientes Bridge — A rickety wooden bridge spans the river that divides the town.
Carrot Art — Excitement in the town of Aguas Calientes — at least at the Inka Wasi Restaurant — takes place in the form of vegetable sculpting.
Prize-Winning English Translations — We've seen many questionable English translations of Spanish signs along our journey. This one, however, in our hotel at Aguas Calientes, wins for the worst understanding of English grammar.
