Welcome to Keith's Scotland photo-journal!
There are several different ways you can navigate this section. Choose from links below, or read about how the navigation options differ.
The text is enhanced with links to external sources throughout. These links vary wildly from useful and informative to amusing to just plain goofy. Feel free to follow them while reading for added enjoyment and laughs, or wait until you get to the end and go down the entire list of links at once.
Finally, if you're really into the geeky stuff, you can read about all the gory techie details behind the making of this photo-journal site.
The photo-journal is best viewed with a screen resolution 800x600 or higher, and with 16-bit color. You won't be missing out much with only 256 colors (just slightly less stunning photos), but if you're stuck viewing at a 640x480 resolution, here are a few tips to make the experience a bit less frustrating:
I recommend reading the journal and looking at the photos for each day together, until you get sick of the journal and decide you just want to look at the photos by themselves (though I'm anticipating that won't happen!) The captions for the photos are usually descriptive enough that you don't really have to read the journal to appreciate them, but it's definitely not the same without the full context. If you want to take a break and resume reading at a later time, the best thing to do is open the journal frame in a separate window and bookmark that. When you return, you can click on the link to restore the frameset of your choice. (If you're only reading the journal text, you can simply bookmark whatever page you stopped at.)
The majority of photos are between 45 and 50 Kilobytes in size, so they should take between 5 and 10 seconds to download over a 56 Kbps modem line. A few images border on 70 KB, but they should still manage to squeak in under 10 seconds, as long as your network isn't too badly congested.
